Living in the United States right now, or paying attention to the 2020 election, is pretty stressful. Even if you usually don't pay attention to politics, you are most likely feeling at least some anxiety around the election, or the ongoing pandemic, or the white supremacy that is fabricated into America.

These things can lead to making it hard to eat or enjoy eating, or over eating. However, we obviously need to eat in order to survive. For some, eating is a way to escape the crazy world that we live in.

Personally, I tend to use eating as a way to escape. The flavors and smells of food is almost therapeutic (thank goodness I have a high metabolism and run!). Here are just a few of my eating tips for this time of year.

Dip, and dip some more

Like me, you may have been keeping your eyes glued to your screen the past few days. A knife and fork may not be your first choice. In this scenario, chips, bread, and vegetables with a variety of dip would be best. I personally enjoy a basic hummus, however there are many different types of hummus that may appeal to you. Other types of dip (burnt onion, salsa, guacamole, queso) are also very tasty.

Popcorn!

Popcorn is a very versatile snack. You can add any flavors you want, sweet, salty, or savory. I personally like adding butter (or coconut oil), sugar, and salt.

Dessert & Baking

Another way I find myself coping with regular stress is baking, and the best part of baking is you have dessert to eat afterwards. Personally, baking cookies and brownies is one of my favorite ways to procrastinate.

What do you plan on eating to calm your nerves tonight?
